D’Angelo Russell recently broke his silence and launched an attack on former Los Angeles Lakers team-mate Nick Young. The former NBA player had challenged the point guard, publically naming him as the player he’d like to box in the ring.

Speaking on the Boxing with Chris Mannix podcast, Young was asked about the one player he’d like to lock horns in the ring with. He did not waste any time in answering, saying, “D’Angelo,” with the interviewer remarking that it was one name everyone expected. Interestingly, Russell was the lone player he specified, but he also added that he’d like to fight, “some guys on the Warriors…some guys on the Lakers… a couple coaches.”

Things between the two players went south during their infamous feud in 2016. The point guard allegedly recorded SwaggyP admitting to cheating on his then-girlfriend Iggy Azalea. The footage then got leaked and everyone, including Young, threw Russell under the bus. A team insider described the whole situation as a “prank gone wrong.”

Tensions between the two teammates sky-rocketed, with the rest of the Los Angeles Lakers squad reportedly isolating Russell from the locker room.

He was subsequently forced to find a new home, with the Lakers trading him to the Brooklyn Nets in 2017. Meanwhile, Young spent his final season (2017-18) with the Golden State Warriors, where he won the NBA championship.

D’Angelo Russell responded to the former NBA champion

It’s been around six years since the whole fiasco transpired. However, Nick Young still seems to be holding a grudge against D’Angelo Russell. The Minnesota Timberwolves player has maintained his innocence, claiming that he has no clue how the footage was leaked. Young, on the other hand, believes Russell was the one who “snitched.”

It seemed like their long-running feud could enter the boxing ring; however, Russell decided to breach his silence. He fired shots at Young, tweeting, My name keep dude relevant, and I’m going to grave with “I ain’t do that s**t” #CarryOn”.

D’Lo decided not to name anyone in his tweet; however, one might assume that it was directed toward Young. Russell, through his tweet, indicated that it’s his name that keeps the former NBA player valid. He also emphasized that he wasn’t the person who leaked the video.
