Ex-Wife Shaunie Always Felt Overshadowed by Shaquille O’Neal’s Towering Persona

Shaunie O’Neal often speaks about a variety of issues and the challenges women face. Currently, she is the star and executive producer of “Basketball Wives”. Her interview with “The Tamron Hall Show” last year contained some topics around why many cast members aren’t married as well as how her “creative” ideas are overshadowed by her marriage.

During her time married to former NBA player Shaquille O’Neal, she had many responsibilities to juggle. During the interview, it seemed that Shaunie always felt overshadowed by Shaq’s towering personality.

Shaunie and Shaq have five wonderful children together. In 2002, the couple was married, but they separated in 2010. Prior to this, Shaunie filed for divorce in 2009.

As of now, they have moved forward with their lives. Together, they share a healthy relationship with their children and for themselves. As friends, they provide their children with healthy and supportive environments. 

Shaunie recalled her time spent with Shaquille O’Neal during their marriage

At the start of the interview, Shaunie talked about how she had given birth to five children. Despite having a high-profile relationship with her ex-husband Shaq. She stated in her comment that she wanted to be known for more than just being someone’s wife. While sharing her thoughts on this in the interview, she also discussed how this has forced her to compromise some of her ideas. According to her, she says:

“I think that I always felt that way, but with being married to him, we were constantly on the move. I just felt like I was constantly supporting him, which is fine. I was a mom of five, and it was a lot, so I never really had the time. I had so many aspirations, so many dreams, so many goals that just weren’t supported in that lifestyle at the time.”

However, Shaunie did not let anything stop her and she is highly successful today.
