For the uninitiated, the 3-time All-Star was ready for his much anticipated Nets debut against the Boston Celtics in Game 4 of the first round of the playoffs. However, he let the coaching staff know that the herniated disc in his back turned sore after a workout.

This is the same injury for which he will undergo surgery. Furthermore, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic, it is not only the back injury that is troubling Simmons. A mental block still exists within him from last season’s postseason that is delaying his debut for the Nets.

Just to be clear a herniated disc is no joke. Just being active can be tough not to mention being a pro athlete in a sport which really is based on jumping. If you think I am being dramatic you clearly have no idea how much a herniated disc hurts.
