The state ranks low in major areas concerning good governance, quality of life, and economy. The former NBA champion gave his thoughts on Alabama’s low rankings on his massive platform for his fans and followers. Moreover, he also slammed some controversial comments made by the state’s Attorney General recently.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar slams the administration in Alabama amid abortion controversy
The state of Alabama is not doing well when it comes to education, healthcare, and crime rates. However, it seems that the officials are more concerned about other matters. Recently, the Attorney General of the state suggested bringing in laws that can get women prosecuted for resorting to abortion pills.

Interestingly, his comments came days after the government made it easier for people to access the pills. Abdul-Jabbar held nothing back while writing about the state of Alabama on his Substack.
Abdul-Jabbar wrote, “With sub-par education, poverty, poor health care, and politicians mansplaining what women need, the state will remain at the bottom of every list of the quality of life. As long as Alabamans keep electing these sad, ill-equipped and uninformed politicians (like AG Steve Marshall), they can expect to be stuck in the mud as other states pass them by.”
Alabama currently ranks 47th in education, 45th in healthcare, and 43rd in crime in the country and corrections. Moreover, they are also the third-worst state in terms of children’s well-being. With all such issues left unattended, the AG’s comments on abortion didn’t sit right with the 19-time NBA All-Star.
Abdul-Jabbar goes all out on a potential Presidential prospect
Kareem did not only bash those in power in the state of Alabama, he touched upon Florida too. Governor Ron DeSantis has been in the news recently after he violated the state’s constitution.
