Every year, fans eagerly await ESPN’s NBArank, in the hope to see their favorite player at the top of the list. However, this year’s list seems to be a disappointment for fans. In the top 5 of the 12th season, NBArank features Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, Joel Embiid, and Stephen Curry. Seeing the Dallas Mavericks star above Stephen Curry and Joel Embiid sparked debate among fans online.

Luka Doncic’s performances in recent years have drawn a lot of attention. The 23-year-old has quickly established himself as a leading candidate to be the best of his generation.

Doncic almost single-handedly lead his team to a blowout 123-90 win over the Phoenix Suns in Game 7 of the Western Conference semi-finals last season, scoring 35 points in the game.

However, seeing Luka Doncic above Joel Embiid and Stephen Curry triggered a dispute among fans. When ESPN posted the tweet, fans started to share their disappointment in the comments.

They presented their thoughts on Doncic being on number three, with LeBron James not even on the top 5 list, and Kevin Durant, a star player for the Brooklyn Nets, was another well-known name that fell outside the top five.

With the start of the new season just weeks away, fans will be hopeful that their icons live up to the moniker. Doncic will certainly be looking forward to becoming the MVP in the upcoming season. In an interview, he saidYeah, hopefully. MVP is unbelievable. If I could be named MVP, it would an enormous accomplishment, I would be so happy but you never know.”
