Adidas cut its ties with rapper Kanye West after his controversial anti-Semitic comments last year. However, the decision has cost the brand millions in sales. Notably, the German brand reportedly has around $1.3 billion worth of Yeezy shoes sitting in storage. Also, Adidas is facing its first annual loss in over 30 years. As per BBC, the brand is eyeing to sell some of the $1.3 billion worth of merchandise to avoid major losses. Amidst this, an NBA star is apparently set to receive his first Adidas signature shoe.

Other than the early exit in the playoffs, Anthony Edwards has had another stellar season. And he is all set to be rewarded for his performances by Adidas with his first signature sneaker.

Anthony Edwards’s rumored signature shoe

Anthony Edwards signed an endorsement deal with Adidas in 2020 when he entered the league. According to a report from Canishoopus, a clause in the contract allows him to get a signature shoe if he made the All-Star team. Notably, Edwards made his first-ever All-Star appearance this year.

Since designing a signature shoe takes months, Adidas acted quickly and released a shoe in collaboration with Marvel and Edwards. The colorway was based on Marvel’s superhero Ant-Man which is also the young star’s nickname. The Minnesota Timberwolves star debuted the colorway during the All-Star weekend.
