Interestingly, not only the players, but even the cheerleaders are making huge inroads into the basketball world.

Ashlyn Whimpey, the Utah Jazz cheerleader, has quickly become an overnight internet star. Fans around the world were touched when she broke down while her team suffered on the court.

Recently, she posted an emotional message under a video showcasing her rise to stardom. She wrote, “going out with a bang #marchsadness”.

Bleacher Report posted the video on their Twitter handle and it has over 10 million views. Whimpey is a senior at Utah State University and that was her last game cheerleading.

Missouri makes history against Utah

When the Missouri Tigers took on the Utah State Aggies, the audience was already expecting a very close game. The game was relatively close until a second-half surge from the Tigers.

Kobe Brown led his team as he hit three-pointers in under three minutes. This kickstarted the game back into life and some quality back-and-forth basketball play ensued. Ultimately, the Tigers converted their deficit into a win as they secured their first March Madness win since 2010.

Missouri beat Utah State 76-65. They advanced to the next round of the tournament and faced Princeton who shocked No 2 seed Arizona recently. Princeton caused yet another upset as they ended Missouri’s run and are turning out to be the dark horses.
