5 Months After Heartbreaking Admission, Shaquille O’Neal Recollects Kobe Bryant Memory That Left the NBA World Distraught

It has been 3 years since the world lost Kobe Bryant to a helicopter crash. While the majority of the world may have moved on, there are still some who are deeply affected by it to this day. As a tandem, Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe won three championships together. But their bond wasn’t the same off the court. They would eventually turn into bitter rivals. It was only years later that they would lay rest to their differences. Unfortunately, now that he’s gone, Shaq’s guilt and remorse still come back to haunt him from time to time.

In one of the episodes of his docuseries on HBO, Shaq revealed that he still had trouble sleeping after Kobe’s death. This was five months ago, so did The Big Aristotle suffer from another sleepless night?

The Los Angeles Lakers began their relationship on the grounds of friendships. Their ferocity and dominance on the court struck fear in their opponents. As they won, their bond grew deeper, or so it seemed. The relationship between Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant started to have differences eventually. The two finally called it quits in 2004 when Shaq went to play for the Miami Heat. By the end of their careers, both players found common ground and set aside their differences. That was until the tragedy took place.

Now, five months after his heartwrenching admission, the four-time NBA champion shared a video of his former teammate on Instagram. The video was mostly of players like Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and himself with flashback memories of Kobe along with it.

Shaq shared the video on his Instagram stories. In the video, Michael Jordan could be seen crying, Shaq trying his best to hold back his tears, LeBron James giving an emotional speech at the Lakers arena, and Curry with his head down in disbelief.

Given that Shaq had admitted to having a lot of sleepless nights after Kobe Bryant’s death, the big man may have had another one of those as he recollected Kobe’s memory.

The duo of Kobe & Shaq

Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal went down as arguably one of the best duos to ever play the game in NBA history. The steady balance of outside shooting and post-scoring became a great offensive plan for the Lakers.

Their gameplay on the court resulted in the Los Angeles Lakers winning three NBA championships in a row. However, the two started to have differences and eventually decided to part ways and end their partnership.
