The Lakers put up a neck-to-neck fight against the Mavs in Friday’s game. The Purple and Gold team had a 4-point lead with less than 15 seconds left in the fourth quarter. However, the Mavericks’ Maxi Kleber snatched the victory away from the Lakers by making 3 free throws and then swishing a buzzer-beater for the 110-111. The weary Lakers’ camp looked dejected after the heartbreaking defeat. Following the game, AD’s teammate Austin Reaves addressed the press and lashed out at the team’s intentions after the defeat.

He said, “If you don’t care about losing games that are really meaningful, then what’s the point of playing?” However, the stand-in leader of the side didn’t hold back, as he took the responsibility for the loss.

The Lakers are in dire need of their two superstars to take the court at the same time. Davis missed the first half of the season with an injury while James is yet to recover from his ankle injury. Apart from his bold statement, he also took a drastic decision to focus on the playoffs berth.

AD’s drastic decision

In order to get into the playoffs mood, AD deactivated his Instagram handle recently. While the Lakers only have a thin chance of making the playoffs, Davis’ decision prompted fans to expect more from the team in the coming games. Notably, this isn’t the first time that a Lakers star had deactivated his social media. LeBron James had previously deactivated his social media ahead of the 2015 playoffs. However, James’ Cavaliers suffered a defeat against the Golden State Warriors in the Finals.
