The hunt for a new head coach for LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers is officially on. At the end of the regular season, Frank Vogel was fired on the last day. The Lakers had a disastrous season and they are in need of a new head coach to turn it around. And a Rockets legend suggests that the Lakers should hire a former Warriors coach to turn it around.

Kenny Smith, a former NBA champion and an analyst for NBA on TNT has a unique name in mind. He suggested that the Lakers hire Mark Jackson as their head coach.

Jackson was the head coach of the Warriors before Steve Kerr and he is credited for unlocking Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. He is also a former player, and he knows how to deal with big personalities in the room.

Smith was asked who could be the next coach for the Lakers. He said that there are a lot of people who could but they are currently coaching other teams. He also said there was one person who is not coaching who could help the Lakers. Smith says, “Mark Jackson, he knows how to handle that kind of environment”.

He says Jackson was the one who helped Curry and laid the foundation for the dynasty. Smith adds, “Mark Jackson could coach the Lakers to a championship, for sure,”

Jackson is a well-respected personality in the basketball world and Curry speaks highly of his former coach. If the Lakers do decide to hire him, they will be getting an experienced coach who has also played in the league. He would also relish the opportunity to coach LeBron and Davis.
