The NBA in recent years has not seen many debacles which would make the basketball court look like a boxing or WWE ring. However, in the 80s and 90s, it happened quite a few times between different teams and players. Charles Barkley was a part of such an incident once in 1990.

The brawl was between the Detroit Pistons and Philadelphia 76ers on April 19, 1990. The Pistons player shoved the ball into a 76ers player, after which Charles Barkley got involved and Bill Laimbeer got pushed to the ground. On April 19, 1990, the Detroit Pistons and Philadelphia 76ers brawl would end up racking up a then NBA record $162,500 in fines. The Pistons’ Bill Laimbeer and the 76ers’ Charles Barkley were suspended for 1 game and fined $20,000 each. The Pistons’ Scott Hastings was also suspended 1 game and fined $10,000 for punching Barkley. 5 players from each team were fined $500 each for coming off the bench to enter the melee and each team was fined $50,000 each for failing to control its players. Although all this happened over 30 years ago, fans can still never forget instances like these. And the two guys who certainly did not forget one second of it are Charles Barkley and Scott Hastings.

Scott Hastings hilariously reacts to Charles Barkley threatening him

Charles and Inside the NBA guys went on a trip down memory lane. They discussed the whole brawl while watching the videos. The videos showed how Scott jumped over several players to punch Barkley, who was already on the ground. Charles said that he still remembers it. He said that he would go to Scott’s house right before the one time NBA champion is ready for dinner and “clock his a**”. The reaction of Hastings was absolutely hilarious, as almost everything on the show mostly is.

“First of all Chuck, let me just say this. I’ll be your chimney if you’re looking for a little smoke. Now that was 30 some years ago. And I want to point out, did I suck a puncher damn right I did,” Scott said. “Would I do it again to win a ring? Ain’t no job too small. So Chuck [what] I gotta say is, what you gonna do when these 23 inch pythons wrap around your neck and squeeze the pus from between your ears?”

Well, a little too graphic for our taste, but certainly an entertaining and hilarious exchange between the two former players. Both obviously have forgiven everything that happened over 30 years ago and just wanted to mess with each other after so many years.
