The NBA All-Defensive teams have officially been announced, and it doesn’t look good for the Dubs fans. Two of the players on the first team have made it to their 4th straight first-team selection. This year’s teams don’t look much different and haven’t looked for the past 3 to 4 years.
Teams like the Warriors and Memphis have been phenomenal this season on both the ends of the floor. They also rank top 3 in defensive rating. Despite the Warriors’ defensive heart not making the first team, Grizzlies’ very own rim protector did.

Draymond made the first team last season, though his defensive team record looks quite shaky. From 2015 to 2017, Green made the first team 3 consecutive times. For the past few seasons, he has been going back and forth between the first and second place. The Warriors stood third in the league in defensive rating. Being the most active player on the defensive end, he allowed only 12 points per 100 possessions and grabbed 10 defensive rebounds.
Though his numbers and contribution look fair enough to make it to the first team, unfortunately, he did not. Robert Williams III, who led the team this year in defensive rating, was selected for the second team. Green is alert on defense, and his ability to break the defense and start a transition has helped the Warriors put up 13 points on average.

Green will definitely make a comeback to the first team soon, but his snub does not mean anything, at least to the team. His contributions have been enough for the Warriors to make it to the playoffs and closing games last-minute games.
