Prior to the Kawhi Leonard and Paul George era, the LA Clippers were known as the “Lob City Clippers.” The credit for the name goes to Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, who were known for throwing insane alley-oop dunks from time to time.

Today marks nine years since Kendrick Perkins was absolutely humiliated by Griffin. Although it might have been pretty embarrassing at the time, Perkins is way past that point. In fact, he reacted to being on the receiving end of that dunk. Perkins tweeted:
“Thanks Russ and Serge for not switching the pick n roll! I really appreciate it Fellas.”

During that time, Blake Griffin was known for his insane dunking ability. Unfortunately, due to numerous injuries, Griffin no longer has that freakish athleticism in him. He is still playing at a good level, but not at the same level during his stint with the Clippers.

After being drafted no.1 overall by the franchise, Griffin hit the ground running. But after spending eight seasons with the franchise and having nothing to show for, the franchise decided to part ways from him. Although Griffin was still a good player, he never retained the form that made fans fall in love with him.

After being traded to the Detroit Pistons, Blake completely revamped his style and developed an all-around game. In fact, he even developed a three-point shot in hopes to elongate his career. But this season, Griffin’s production has taken a hit, as he is averaging just 13.1 points per game while shooting less than 40% from the field.
