It is safe to say NBA legend Dennis Rodman is one of a kind. Over the course of his career, he has won 5 NBA championships. He was one of the best rebounders and defenders ever. However, not everyone was a fan of his off-the-court antics. Recently, Rodman shocked the world by claiming that he would travel to Russia to help the detained Brittney Griner get back home. However, he then called it off. During the latest episode of the ‘Big Shot Pod with Robert Horry’, the crew discussed Rodman’s comments.

Robert Horry has won a mind-boggling 7 NBA titles in his career. He has been fortunate enough to play for some of the best teams during his time in the league. Horry won two straight titles with the Houston Rockets in 1994 and 1995. He then won 3 straight with the Los Angeles Lakers from 2000 to 02. Then the last two came during his time with the San Antonio Spurs in 2005 and 2007.
During his time with the Lakers, he had the chance to play with Dennis Rodman. The ‘Worm’ had just won the three-peat with Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls in 1998. After the Bulls decided to rebuild, Rodman left like most stars.
The Lakers waived Dennis Rodman
Dennis Rodman was a superstar at that point, even though he was at the tail end of his career. The Lakers knew the risk of signing someone as flamboyant as the Bulls legend. But they were not afraid to experiment. After all, he was a 6-time champion and a rebounding machine. However, things didn’t work out. When asked about Rodman, Horry said, “I played on the Lakers with Rodman for about 8 days. Until Kurt[Rambis] said, ‘Get the f**k outta here! I’m tired of you being late. Get outta here.'”

At the time, Kurt Rambis served as the head coach of the Lakers after coach Del Harris was fired. As per reports, Rambis decided to waive Rodman after he continuously showed up late to practices. Rambis said that he was disappointed with how things ended with Rodman because he saw what Rodman was capable of doing on the court.
“The in-and-out just got to be too much,” Rambis said. “I felt we needed everyone to be on the same page. I gave my recommendation to management, a minimum of a suspension. It was my belief we should waive him at this time.”?
