Zion Williamson has had a topsy-turvy NBA career. The memories of his rookie season have faded away to dust. Fans nowadays remember him as a permanent member of the New Orleans bench due to no fault of his own. He incurred a season-ending injury and was forced not to play games for his team. Zion had to face brickbats the entire season. It has continued during this offseason as many fans still think his contract was a waste of money.

He has been practicing a lot and has reinforced his dedication to the Pelicans. Yet, nothing can melt Twitter fans. Recently, Zion compared his injury journey to anime character Naruto’s. He said, “For a while, nobody took Naruto seriously. And then he went and trained with [master shinobi] Jiraiya for three years, right? And he came back at 16 years old, goated.?

It was a simple analogy used by a fan of the show. Zion also said that he is not the only fan of anime in the NBA. Many will see the analogy as correct due to anime protagonists usually being young males destined to do great things. But some decided to latch on to this to mock him endlessly. To them, it’s another one of Zion’s “mistakes” that can be added to their list.

Zion Williamson’s 2021-22 NBA season was nightmarish
Zion Williamson had to miss the entirety of the 2021/22 season due to a foot injury. New Orleans pushed back his date of return constantly until they declared that he could no longer play the season. His dominant playing style has earned him plaudits, but injury concerns stop him from going on that path.

During his three seasons in the NBA, he has played only 85 regular season games. His commitment to fitness too was questioned as his weight was questioned a few months back. Ex-players like Charles Barkley criticized him for his supposed weight “gain”.
