Third straight defeat and sixth loss in 7 games, the season for the Phoenix Suns has taken an ugly turn. On Monday, the Suns lost to the New York Knicks by 19 points (83-102). The Suns started the game on a positive note with two back-to-back baskets. However, the momentum instantly shifted as the Knicks went on a 14-0 run.

In the first quarter of the game, the Suns managed to bag 11 points as opposed to the Knicks’ 27 points. From then on, the game for the Suns only got worse. By half-time, the Suns were down by 23 points but what left fans upset was the performance of Chris Paul.

At half-time, Chris Paul’s stat line read 0 points with 0-4 field goals made. For a player of Paul’s caliber and experience to perform like this was nothing short of shocking.

By the end of the game, Paul had bagged 11 points with 2 assists and 4 rebounds. NBA Fans couldn’t hold back from attacking the 12-time NBA All-Star.

The frustration and disappointment of fans with Chris Paul’s performance echoed through the Twitter feed. Some fans encouraged CP3 to announce his retirement while the others stated that Paul was finished. Many also stated that his age was causing this dip in performance.

They called his decline to be scary and quick. Fans also referred to the Kanye West-Paul incident where the rapper accussed Paul of hanging around with Kim Kardashian. Phoenix Suns’ coach on the team’s performance

The Phoenix Suns have looked deflated on the court while their leader Devin Booker has spent time on the sidelines tending to an injury. In the game against the Knicks, DeAndre Ayton led the points table with 12 points and 2 assists.

The others on the team could barely pass the 10 point mark. On the other hand, the New York Knicks‘ saw an all-round team performance with five players bagging double digit points.

For Suns coach Monty Williams, this performance was “mind-boggling”. He said, “The frustration comes in for us because we?ve been a team that can overcome that when we are not shooting the ball well”.

Following this, Williams added that as a coach he needs to focus on making him team stronger emotionally as well as mentally. He also stated that such performances from a team like his was unacceptable.
