Prior to the game as well, there had been a lot of chatter about him getting the Sixth Man of the Year award. However, the league’s fans questioned Westbrook’s history-making moment with the hefty contract he was under. One fan wrote, “He gets $47 million to start off the bench“.

Russell Westbrook’s triple-double tonight made NBA history. He finished the game with 15 points, 12 rebounds, and 13 assists to register his third triple-double of the season. Moreover, all of them have come off the bench, making him the first player to do so.

As per the Lakers, Westbrook has now tied Detlef Schrempf?s record for most triple-doubles off the bench in league history. The Lakers beat the Magic with a final tally of 129-110.

According to ClutchPoints, “Westbrook became the first Lakers player ever to have multiple triple-doubles off the bench. He recorded his first one in their recent loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, during which he joined Magic Johnson as the only bench player to do so.” But NBA fans are seemingly not impressed with his achievement.
