The Los Angeles Lakers were under immense pressure after a disappointing season to make the necessary moves and move in the right direction. The future of the team was at stake in the last few days. But a decision has been taken.

After the firing of Frank Vogel during the last game of the regular season, the Lakers have chased down the right candidates for the head coach job. They have finally made the decision and Giannis Antetokounmpo wished him luck.

The Lakers have hired the assistant coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, Darvin Ham. He had been with the Bucks since 2018 and was part of the championship-winning Bucks side last season. Darvin had been a big part of the Bucks assisting Mike Budenholzer. This is going to be his first job fully in charge of a team. The star man of his previous team had nothing but the best wishes for him.

Giannis Antetokounmpo has been a solid leading figure for the Milwaukee Bucks for some time now. He has been the face of the team and has made them a formidable side. He wished Darvin Ham the best of luck as he said, “He deserves it more than anyone.” The six-word message proved how important Darvin was for the Bucks. Not only that, but it also proves how much the Bucks respected their former assistant coach.

Giannis also said, I’m so happy for him. He’s the right fit for them. He keeps it real with you. No BS at all. It’s about damn time.” By the look of things, it seems like the Lakers have found the right man after all.

What assistant head coach of Giannis Antetokounmpo brings to the table for LeBron James?

Frank Vogel won the NBA championship behind closed doors in 2020 when the fans were not allowed in the arenas as per pandemic rules. The Bucks won the 2021 championship and Darvin Ham was a vital part of the Bucks last year.

This season, LeBron James showed his individual brilliance, but clearly, it was not enough. What Darvin could bring to the side is what the Lakers probably need the most.

The Lakers need to improve their roster and bring in more talented players to strengthen the side. It is actually crazy to think that the player who once guarded a 19-year-old LeBron James, is set to coach him in his 20th season.

Apart from that, Ham seems like the right choice if the Lakers let him do what they have hired him to do and that is, control that roster well. He has the personality and skill set to lead a side with superstars. If he can handle the roster and make them play their specific roles, the Lakers can actually flourish the next season.
