Giannis Antetokounmpo Goes Brutal With Kevin Durant Roasts but Fans Come In for Quick Defense: “Bro Only Won Because Brooklyn Was Hurt”

After being touted as the best player in the league by Jayson Tatum, Giannis Antetokounmpo may have gone a bit too far. The Milwaukee Bucks are the number-one team in the Eastern Conference right now. The franchise is on a 14-game winning streak, pushing their record to 43-17. However, while on a recent appearance at a talk show, Giannis Antetokounmpo may have taken a cheeky dig at Suns’ Kevin Durant.
Giannis Antetokounmpo recently appeared on ‘The Daily Show’ with Hasan Minhaj. The two discussed multiple things, including the Bucks’ star’s charitable foundation. And by the end, the host had some roasts and insults already written for the ‘Greek Freak’ to read on national television.

The host Hasan Minhaj may have sparked some sort of rivalry between Giannis Antetokounmpo and the players he roasted. Minhaj, in jest, made sure to include some of the biggest names in the league, one of which was Kevin Durant.
However, the roast referring to Kevin Durant was the one where Giannis did not flinch. The two-time MVP said, “You keep joining superteams to win an NBA title. How about, how about we work out together sometime so I can teach you how to carry your own team.”

Even though it was meant as a joke, fans certainly did not feel that way. One fan tweeted, “Bro only won because Brooklyn was hurt and they was going 1on1 coverage on kd and damn near lost. Now imagine them going 1on1 coverage with kd, harden and kyrie healthy. I still respect Giannis but cmon now.”

Another fan commented, “He just too lucky Middleton was able to close that game against Atlanta or else we would have seen Trae young winning that title.”

A lot of fans of Durant certainly took offense and pointed out how it wasn’t Antetokounmpo who was closing out games in the 2021 NBA playoffs.

Giannis Antetokounmpo’s actual remarks
Just to be clear, these were not Giannis Antetokounmpo’s actual remarks. The host Hasan Minhaj had written these down and made the six-time All-Star read them out. The 28-year-old has immense respect for all the players he was asked to roast while on the show.

When looking at the entire interview, one could see that Giannis said all those insults and roasts with a heavy heart, to the point that the Bucks star either gave his thoughts right after the comments or before them.
Even though it was all fun and games, we’re yet to see if Kevin Durant also feels that way. However, one thing is for sure, fans will be eager to hear KD’s response.
