The Brooklyn Nets have one of the most complete offenses in the NBA. The duo of Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant have let loose this season. With Durant, he recently passed his career-high in a loss against the Atlanta Hawks. However, he failed to cross the 60 point mark. Recently, while speaking with Reddick, KD revealed his reason for not reaching that milestone.

The Slim Reaper is one of the best scorers of the modern generation. Despite going through a tough ACL injury, Durant has come out in the best way. After a successful playoff last season, he continued his impressive scoring run.

While on the podcast with JJ Reddick, he explained what keeps him from going ‘God Mode’.

Why Kevin Durant can’t score 60 or 70 points

Durant was talking about getting his teammates involved in the action. But Reddick couldn’t keep himself from asking if KD ever feels like shooting over everybody at will. Surprisingly, Durant said he can’t go off that way because there are almost immediate adjustments coming in for him.

He said: “A lot of people ask me when I don’t get 60, 70 point games. When I watched these dudes get 60 and 70, it’s like the adjustments don’t change from the opposing coach.”

Durant continued, saying, “So I can’t come off and get free looks anymore. I come off a wide-open pin down. What do you think your coach is going to say if I make a three the first quarter? Make an adjustment. So it’s like it takes a lot for somebody to score big, 15 and 16 free throws, wide-open three-pointers. Like, I’m not getting those looks.”

While Durant has all the offensive weapons and the size, the entire league is aware of the threat. Durant has left his mark in the best way possible. He never has a night of open looks. However, the Slim Reaper does make it all look effortless. But it isn’t easy for him to be the main target of any defense. Hence, even getting over 50 points goes to show his true scoring prowess.
