LeBron James is a superstar both on and off the court. There’s no second thought to that statement, and with the release of Space Jam’s sequel, LBJ’s reputation will spike upwards. He just seems like the perfect fit for the sequel on every level, but was the four-time MVP nervous at all, knowing that he was going to fill into the shoes of his idol?
An NBA fan needs no reminder about the constant comparisons between Michael Jordan and LeBron James. While the two athletes are from different eras, fans just can’t stop praising one player at the expense of the other.
Similarly, there were a lot of calls about the casting when LeBron James was roped in to play the lead in ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy.’ James is the perfect successor to the Jordan-led Space Jam movie, but did he have mixed feelings when taking up the role?

LeBron James wanted to star in a movie like Space Jam since his childhood
Space Jam’s first part released in 1996, when LeBron James was just 12 years old. “In my younger days, part of the thinking, besides focusing on the game of basketball, was, ‘Space Jam was so good, how can I top this?’” James told Entertainment Weekly.
“There’s always going to be conversations about LeBron trying to do everything that Michael [did]. So when I was younger, you’d give in to those,” he added.
But all that James mentioned was from the past. He was just a kid then but has evolved into an NBA superstar now. None of those comparisons bother him now.

“I’ve gotten older, and you know who you are. You know what you believe in, and you know what you stand for. Those type of conversations are going to happen, anyway. They don’t really get to you as much as they [would] when you’re younger,” James mentioned.
Fans are eagerly awaiting the premiere of the Space Jam sequel. It is one of the most hyped sport-based movies in recent times, and the fact that James is leading the cast makes it even more worthwhile!
