“Got So Many Death Threats”: Frightened Dennis Rodman Was Relieved to See Donald Trump Act on His Kim Jong Un Requests in 2018

NBA legend Dennis Rodman once revealed he received death threats for trying to bring peace between North Korea and the United States. After years of tension between the two countries, in 2018, former president Donald Trump and Kim Jong Un had a historic summit. And Rodman, who has claimed multiple times, to have a good relationship with Kim Jong-Un, once gave an interview to CNN from Singapore, the venue of the summit. He talked about the road to the summit between the United States and North Korea and got very emotional in the process.

Rodman, wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat appeared live on national TV. During the interview, he talked about his relationship with Kim Jong Un and how he was initially acquainted with him. He admitted that he had promised the leader he would bring a professional team to their country. And when he delivered, the leader was happy.

Rodman then said that Kim Jong Un told him that he is ready to talk to the U.S. under certain conditions. And Bulls legend also revealed that he tried to communicate this to former president Barack Obama. However, he was brushed aside.

Even though Obama did not pay him any attention, Dennis Rodman did not give up. He kept on believing that “the door will open.” In the end, he was relieved after the Trump administration listened to him. Subsequently, Rodman became very emotional talking about it and cried on live TV as he spoke about the death threats. Rodman said, “When I said those d*mn things, when I went back home, I got so many death threats… When I went home, I couldn’t even go home.”

“I couldn’t even go home. I had to hide out for 30 days,” he added, fighting back tears.

The five-time NBA champion further added that he held his head high and believed things would change for the better. Afterwards, the host wanted to know why Rodman chose North Korea of all places to bring peace. And the Hall of Famer admitted that he was naïve and did not know what he was doing in the beginning.
