Like most basketball fans, NBA legend Charles Barkley is excited about the start of March Madness. The 1993 NBA MVP cannot wait for the NCAA tournament to begin where the top college superstars battle it out for the ultimate prize. He recently talked about the tournament and stated that the Alabama Crimson Tide is the best team in the country. Notably, the Alabama native predicted the Crimson Tide to win it all last year. However, he could not be completely excited because of the controversy surrounding the team.

On Jan. 15, 23-year-old Jamea Harris was murdered near Alabama University. Subsequently, Crimson Tide player Darius Miles was charged with capital murder for handing the gun to Michael Lynn Davis, his friend, who fired it killing Harris. Davis was charged with capital murder. However, there was an allegation that Miles’ teammate Brandon Miller was also involved.

Charles Barkley expresses his questions about the Crimson Tide

Former NCAA head coach Jay Wright joined Charles Barkley and Ernie Johnson in the latest episode of The Steam Room podcast. During the show, the trio talked about the upcoming NCAA tournament. He claimed that Alabama Crimson Tide is the best team in the country with the best player in the country, Brandon Miller. However, Barkley was worried about the controversy around Miller. He said, “My question with Alabama is the Miller situation gonna be so much of a distraction. Are they gonna be able to pull it together? That’s my only question.”

After the arrest of Darius Miles and Michael Lynn Davis, it was alleged that Brandon Miller delivered the gun to Miles. Miller reportedly drove Miles to the bar. Also, Miles and Davis were in the backseat of his car before the incident. However, his attorney denied the allegations that Miller delivered the gun.
