All of Serbia is now mourning for the victims of the gun violence that erupted on school premises. A 13-year-old boy from the school has taken responsibility for the killings. According to a report in Reuters, the 13-year-old had planned the brutal attack. The shooter had entered the school compound with two guns and petrol bombs. After gunning down a security guard and three girls, the shooter went to classrooms and shot other fellow pupils. The brutal attack claimed nine lives, and several others are battling life-threatening injuries.

The tragic news from Belgrade has broken Luka Doncic’s heart. The Mavericks centerpiece took to Instagram to join devastated Serbians in mourning. Doncic posted the image of a candle in his story. The text, “BEOGRAD 03.05.2023,” was written on the image. The Mavericks centerpiece has also added three heartbroken emojis on his story. Doncic’s story came moments after fellow NBA star Nikola Jokic took to Instagram with a similar story to mourn for his homeland.

All of Serbia is mourning

Serbians are now prepared to mourn for three days. Besides, numerous people rushed to the school to pay respects to the children and the security guard who got killed in the incident. Alarmed by the unfortunate happening, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has reportedly announced a moratorium on new gun licenses other than for hunting, revision of existing permits and surveillance of shooting ranges and how civilians store their weapons.

The 13-year-old shooter has reportedly planned the killings. As reports say, the shooter even had a list of targets in hand. Since the shooter is below the age of criminal responsibility, he will be placed in a psychiatric institution, reports said.
