The Miami Heat have had some great NBA players play for them. From this generation’s Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo to some former stars like LeBron James, Shaquille O’Neal, Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, and many more. However, there is one NBA player who isn’t given enough credit for what he has contributed to the franchise throughout its career.

Yes, it’s none other than Udonis Haslem. However, in a riveting incident that involved LeBron, Udonis had mentally decided to take upon a bodyguard role for him. In a recent interview with GQ, Udonis was asked whether he had to take up a bodyguard role for any of the ‘Big Three’ of the team. This included Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, and LeBron James.

In response, he narrated quite a fascinating story that truly depicts the hate Bron has to endure in his everyday life. “We were all walking from grabbing something to eat one day, and some dude shouted, ‘Hey LeBron,’ and Bron looked over, and soon as he did the dude said ‘f*** you!’ to Bron. Dude said that to Bron outta nowhere!” he stated.

“So, now I’m walking. And in my mind, I’m saying to myself, ‘I’ll never let that happen again here.’ And then I understood what he goes through because if someone randomly does that to me going down the street I don’t know what’ll happen. If this is the shit he gotta deal with, I’ma have his back. I said, ‘F*** you!’ back to the dude. Bron ain’t say nothing.”

Since then, people have compiled plenty of reasons to dislike him. Even the fact that he is included in the GOAT conversation bothers some. But it is safe to say, Bron has done nothing but prove himself over the years.

His four NBA championships speak volumes about him as an NBA player. However, no matter what he does, it might never be enough. And Udonis just saw a glimpse of the hate he receives, imagine if he had to go through the rest.

Say what you will about LBJ, he is one of the greatest players to ever grace the hardwood floor. And like always, nothing anybody says will ever break his spirit. So technically, he doesn’t need a bodyguard after all.
