Growing up, J.R. Smith was diagnosed with dyslexia and ADHD. The 2x-NBA champion has candidly spoken about his condition in the recently released sports documentary- Redefined JR Smith. As the Prime Video docuseries have caught the attention of the hoops world, the former Cavalier has recently appeared in The Old Man and the Three podcast. Responding to the host’s questions about his documentary, Smith weighed in on his ailments.

“When I was in second and third grade, I remember standing up in front of the class, teacher picks on me. You got to read this sentence at the book and everybody’s looking, and you know, I was dyslexic and I had ADHD. So, for me the whole concept of sitting there and reading out loud was ridiculous and I was so intimidated,” said J.R. Smith.

Once, when Smith was sipping hot chicken tortilla soup, Damon Jones tried to have fun in vain. “I know you are playing with me and I am gonna show you. And I literally thought about it and I threw it on him. He is over there screaming, because the sh** is hot. I am like, see you want to stop playing,” said Smith, alluding to the infamous ‘soup saga’.
