According to the WNBA superstar, the time has not yet come for LeBron James to ‘hang them up.’ She believes that James can accomplish more on the hard wood by mirroring the legendary Michael Jordan‘s legacy.

2022 WNBA champion says LeBron James can mirror Michael Jordan’s legacy

In her recent appearance on an episode of Podcast P with Paul George, the 2022 WNBA champion gave her thoughts on the talks that revolve around LeBron James’ future. The Clippers’ Paul George and co-hosts asked Wilson if she thinks James will retire. A’ja Wilson revealed that she doesn’t see LeBron retiring soon. She also acknowledged James’ contribution in the Lakers’ run. However, she thinks that the LA superstar can take some time out to rejuvenate.

While speaking about James’ much-needed break, A’ja Wilson recalled how Michael Jordan returned after announcing retirement. Wilson also opined that LeBron could try the same to accomplish his remaining goal.

“I think he is just going to need some time. Just to kind of chill out, because I mean, you can’t get everybody hyped by saying you’re gonna play with Bronnie and then you… But then he [LeBron James] could be like MJ and be like, I’m back,” A’ja Wilson said.

Paul George and co-hosts also revealed that they wish LeBron James will play with his son in the NBA. PG-13 also reminisced about Michael Jordan’s famous return to the NBA after his second retirement.

Paul George agreed with A’ja Wilson that LeBron James can surely come back after a break. The Clippers star added that James is 38 and he could do what Jordan did in 2001. After winning the 98 NBA title with the Bulls, MJ retired for the second time in January 1999. However, in 2001, His Airness returned to the hardwood as a Washington Wizards player. It was only in 2003, at age 40, that MJ finally decided to hang his shoes.

“He [LeBron James] is 38. Even if he took a year off… MJ came back at what 40. Still getting 40s and 60s. I think Bron can take a year off,” Paul George said. Just like A’Ja Wilson and Paul George, the whole NBA world wants to see LeBron go at it once again, even after a long time out.
