Shaquille O’Neal, the 7-foot-tall basketball legend, made the opposition uncomfortable if his name was on the lineup. There was an air of unease for the opposition as the behemoth entered the court. The 15-time All-Star won four NBA championships in the 19 seasons that he played. An extremely fit O’Neal was no match for the opponents on-court.

Shaquille O’Neal getting leaner and fitter

Immense natural ability was not a problem for Shaquille O’Neal. The player used to dominate basketball courts and break backboards without any hesitation. Back in April, the Los Angeles Lakers legend uploaded a bodybuilding pose video, to which pro bodybuilder Greg Doucette reacted to. Throughout the hilarious video, Greg Doucette conveyed his commentary and advice at the same time. After watching the whole thing, he said “I’d have to advise him that he needs to cut down on body fat, closer to 20% body fat here. This is an off-season weight for him, he needs to cut- probably on 15 weeks of diet.” The top bodybuilder added “serious” advice to O’Neal to make the video funnier.

It is not a secret that Shaq was not as fit during his playing career as his well-wishers would’ve liked. His long-time Lakers teammate and lifelong friend Kobe Bryant once commented on his fitness “I wish he was in the gym. I would’ve had f***ing 12 rings.”

The NBA legend since retirement has decided to change his ways and focus more on fitness and take care of his body to live a healthier life. Since the ordeal, the Lakers no. 34 has trained harder and now looks very different.
