With the NBA trade deadline coming up, the trade rumors are flying left and right. After the All-Star voting list was released a few weeks ago, Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz showed his disappointment with the voting by the fans.
Although he’s having a good season so far, he could not rise up the ranks on the voting list. This led to him wanting a “bigger market” than the team he currently plays for. The fans had already speculated a move to the New York Knicks after this statement by Mitchell.

Donovan Mitchell to the New York Knicks?
Although he is in contract with the Utah Jazz for the next three seasons at least, he may force a trade to the Knicks. As per reports by an NBA scout, “They’re a first-round exit from Donovan being in New York.”
Another reason to believe the speculations is the deteriorating relationship between Mitchell and Rudy Gobert. The two stars fell out during the early stages of the pandemic.

Jazz co-owner Dwyane Wade is also reportedly concerned regarding the Donovan Mitchell situation. According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, “I do think that Dwyane Wade, who governor Ryan Smith brought in to be a co-owner but also be an advisor, is seriously concerned about Donovan Mitchell’s desire to stay there long-term.”
Talking about his performance, Mitchell has been sensational this season. He averages 25.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 5.2 assists this season. Despite these stellar performances, he doesn’t get the credit he deserves. The Utah Jazz are currently 4th in the Western Conference.
It is quite evident Donovan Mitchell wants to take his talents elsewhere. It remains to be seen whether he joins the New York Knicks during the trade deadline.
