Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson arguably make one of the best duos in the NBA. Curry and Thompson’s domination on the court has made the Golden State Warriors a consistent championship contender over the past decade. Steph and Klay have won four championships together.

The star duo also share a deep friendship off the court as well. A few months, Stephen Curry came to Klay Thompson’s rescue when 2019 NBA champion Serge Ibaka put the Warriors’ shooting guard in a tricky situation.

Klay Thompson made an appearance on Serge Ibaka’s YouTube show, ‘How hungry are you.’ Thompson was coming off a series of injuries that cost him two important seasons in the NBA. The five-time All-Star talked about rehab through his injuries, his relationship with Stephen Curry, and how crucial Draymond Green was for the Warriors team. 

Ibaka tests Stephen Curry & Klay Thompson’s friendship

During the show, Serge Ibaka questioned Thompson about the possibility of the Warriors winning their fourth championship without Kevin Durant. Thompson responded that the Warriors still had the core of a championship team. The Golden State guard also suggested that he, along with Curry and Draymond Green, had won a lot of games for the franchise. Moreover, Thompson had a lot of trust in the team’s roster and was confident that the Warriors had a real chance to win.

Afterwards, Serge Ibaka asked Klay Thompson on his LIVE show to FaceTime Stephen Curry to see if the Warriors superstar responded. While the phone rang, Klay Thompson admitted that he would feel hurt if Steph did not answer. Fortunately, Curry picked up after a few seconds. After the initial greetings, Thompson said, “Bro! There was a lot on the line here. He was questioning our friendship.”

Luckily, Stephen Curry picked Thompson’s call on the first attempt. It was heartening for the fans to see the Splash Brothers still looking out for each other after so many years.

Steph Curry warns Ibaka 

Steph’s wife, Ayesha Curry, was around when she noticed Ibaka’s chef suit and hat. The former Toronto Raptors star claimed to have made Fufu for Thompson. As the conversation was about to end, Stephen Curry gave Serge Ibaka a stern warning. The 2022 Finals MVP said, “Hey Serge! Don’t ever test us like that again.”

Curry jokingly advised Ibaka not to test his friendship with Thompson again. A few months later, the Splash Brothers would give a commendable response to their critics by winning the 2022 NBA championship.

Coming back after two years, Thompson made a valuable contribution in the playoffs to help Curry lead the Warriors to their fourth championship in eight years. Thus, it is still impossible to stop the Splash Brothers when they get going.
