Scottie Pippen has got the NBA world talking about Michael Jordan once again. What has he done this time? The same thing that he has been doing since 2021 when his book “Unguarded” came out. Pip has been relentlessly targeting Michael Jordan. Talking about the Jordan-Pippen relationship, analyst Stephen A. Smith, who is known for putting players in the crosshairs, also had quite a mouthful to say.
Posting on his official YouTube channel, the renowned analyst listened to Scottie Pippen’s statements on Stacey King’s podcast. Pippen called Jordan a “horrible player” and a “horrible teammate” before his arrival. These comments didn’t sit well with Smith, who was in disbelief while listening to Pippen.

Stephen K. Smith unleashes his anger on Scottie Pippen
Smith began by describing Michael Jordan’s accomplishments, such as his Six NBA Finals MVPs, among various other accolades. The NBA Commentator acknowledged Pippen’s contributions and called him great but also said that “he was second fiddle for a reason”.
It was not surprising that the First Take Commentator brought up the 1986 first-round series between Celtics and Bulls. Air Jordan really took off during the series and even put up 63 points in Game 2, which remains a record to date in the Playoffs. Smith quoted Larry Bird, who called Michael Jordan ‘God in a gym suit’.
Smith then noted the lack of support Michael had in terms of teammates before Pippen’s arrival to the Bulls. The critical commentator discussed Jordan’s impact on the game itself. He then spoke some harsh words for Jordan’s former teammate.
“How you sound on this particular footage of you talking about Michael Jordan, you sound like a damn fool. You sound like an ignorant dude that doesn’t know the game, we know better than that. We know how brilliant you are, we know how knowledgeable you are. So it only brings two other things about you bro; envy and bitterness. Those are the two things,” said the analyst. Many, however, still question if Pip’s statements have come out of envy or malice for Jordan.

Is Scottie Pippen salty about Michael Jordan?
Jordan had left the NBA in the 1993-94 season to pursue a career in baseball, which failed hurriedly. This was when Pip became the Ace of the team. During 1994 ECF Game 3 against the New York Knicks when the Bulls needed a game-winning shot, coach Phil Jackson didn’t go to Pippen. He went to Toni Kukoc for the game-winning play and he delivered. Pippen didn’t check in the game as he felt offended at not getting the chance to nail the game-winner.

Of course, Stephen A. Smith didn’t hesitate to bring this up and chalk out how the forward’s teammates thought he quit on them. The rant by the Commentator is a reminder that Pippen’s comments about Jordan being a “horrible” player may be misplaced and personal.
