As the year has progressed, there have been a lot of happenings in the wider NBA world, especially with Shaunie Henderson. Aside from the preparations for her wedding, she had one thing come up that she did not anticipate. Ex-husband Shaquille O’Neal confessed his faults in their marriage and accepted them. Unfortunately, it was perhaps too late to do that. 

Following their engagement last November, the ‘Basketball Wives’ star married her pastor fiancé Keion Henderson in May in a tropical and romantic ceremony. A number of close friends and family members attended the ceremony, including her five children, Shareef O’Neal, Amirah, Shaquir O’Neal, Me’arah O’Neal, and Myles B. O’Neal.

Pictures and videos of each child participating in their mother’s precious day were displayed at the wedding. “She’s amazing. She’s just the most laid-back, hilarious, fun-loving person,” Henderson told PEOPLE. “She’s a woman of faith,” he added.

During Shaunie Henderson’s wedding, her sons walked her down the aisle

While her sons were walking her to the aisle, Shaunie shared something that made her feel like her father was around at her wedding. As she described the background story of the wedding, she mentioned that she felt her father’s presence.

While mentioning how much she missed her dad on that beautiful day, she stated that she believes that he was there. “He’s there. I don’t know if the wind was a nod for my dad or those couple of little raindrops that I felt, but either way, he was there.” 

The tragic news about her father’s death surfaced as she shared it on social media in March. In a video displaying her love for her father, she captioned it: “The first man I ever loved is gone.” 

Did Shaquille O’Neal attend the wedding?

According to her many interviews, she invited her ex-husband to the wedding, but Shaquille O’Neal ultimately chose not to attend. Since they were married for nine years and had many differences, they decided to part ways, and their divorce was finalized in 2011.
