There have been some dominating forces in the NBA. However, few come close to what Shaquille O’Neal was for a long stretch of his career. He would destroy oppositions on the court. And now as an NBA analyst, he often targets players and digs right into them. And two of his favorite targets were Lakers big men, Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee.
While on Danny Green’s podcast, Dwight spoke about the conversation he and McGee have had over Shaq and how they laugh about it.

Shaq is one of the most entertaining analysts to come across. His role with the NBA on TNT crew is entertaining. He even has his own segment called ‘Shaqtin’ A Fool’. And that is where his beef started with JaVale. As for Dwight, the big man stole away the Big Diesel’s nickname.

Dwight Howard came on as a guest on Green’s podcast and he spoke about Shaq. Notably, he referred to the time when he and McGee both talked about wanting to fight Shaq for all the things he was saying about them. But the fear of the Big Diesel being an honorary police officer kept them at bay.
Howard said: “We did. I asked him, I was like ‘hey, did you want to fight Shaq?’ He was like ‘man I did, man!’ I was like ‘man I did too,’ but I was like ‘there’s two things we’ve got to worry about. He’s a cop, so if we hurt him we’re going to jail. And two, if Shaq gets ahold of us, it’s over with… You’ve got to hit him and move, because if not? If Shaq gets you? It’s over with.’”

Shaq was not kind with the way he went after McGee. He featured him way more than any other player in his segment. Even when injured, McGee was a part of the Shaqtin’. It got so bad that McGee’s mother had to step in to stop O’Neal.

On the other hand, Shaq was mad with fellow Magic center Dwight Howard for stealing his nickname ‘Superman’ during the dunk contest. And he has never given him respect ever since.
