Michael Jordan had done it all after the 1997-98 season. He had 6 rings under his name and was also the only player who had never lost in the Finals. After a successful career, Michael wanted to get into the space of team officials. Jordan became the executive of the Washington Wizards in 2001.

His first move as an executive was drafting a #1 draft pick, Kwame Brown. The Wizards were not that good of a team and the process of rebuilding was initiated. Though little did MJ knew, this would be his worst decision.

Being the executive for the Wizards, Jordan expected Brown to turn out a star player. But that certainly did not happen. In his first season, Brown averaged 4 points and 3 rebounds. Behind his declining performance was a bad habit. Kwame was addicted to alcohol. Brown was seen as a drunk by a lot of teams.

“So I called one of our you know, people back in Washington. I was like, ‘Yo was Kwame that bad?’. And it was like, it was bad. It was bad because it’s like he’d have no… he didn’t have anyone, so he drunk.”, said Arenas. Though he did not really show sympathy for Brown and said, “I mean, he’s a f**king alcoholic man.”

Even though Kwame had problems, he did well on his part, trying to give the best he could on the floor. Kwame’s best season was with Washington itself when he averaged 10 points and 7 rebounds in the 2003-04 season. Kwame was seen as just another draft bust after lousy performances.
