Looks like NFL star Tom Brady is going through a rough phase at the moment. The NFL season started on September 2, 2022. Since then, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been on a losing streak. Seeing one of the greatest quarterbacks in the league lose in the majority of the games came as a shock to the fans. The Buccaneers have lost in five of the eight games they have played. And according to Shaquille O’Neal, family problems might be a significant reason behind that.

In the latest episode of The Big Podcast with Shaq, the former NBA superstar talked about Tom Brady’s poor performance in recent times. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ opening game was a treat for Bucs fans as the team beat the Dallas Cowboys by 19-3. When co-host Nischelle Turner bought up the Tom Brady situation, Shaq said that Brady’s poor performance had nothing to do with his age or skills, but his divorce. Recalling how difficult his own divorce was, the Los Angeles Lakers legend stated that dealing with such issues tends to take a lot out of people.

Furthermore, Shaq said that while he is not aware of Brady’s situation, he knew that the Bucs star was going through a lot. O’Neal wished him well and hoped that the couple would reconcile in near future.

Additionally, Shaq revealed that separation from one’s kids can be really tough on somebody, like it was for him in 2006. He added, “It has nothing to do with his age because he’s always been a vegan, he’s always ate clean and always did the right thing. He’s not a partier, he’s not a drinker but emotionally, I know he’s going through a lot.”

Shaquille O’Neal talks about his divorce

Shaquille O’Neal got engaged to television personality Shaunie Nelson in 2000. The couple got married two years later in December 2002 and has four kids together. After living together as a married couple for five years, Shaq filed for divorce in 2007. However, the couple later got back together. Their marriage survived two more years before Shaunie filed for divorce in 2009.

Reflecting back on the messy divorce, Shaq said that he felt lost when his wife and kids moved out of their house. In an episode of The Pivot Podcast, the Big Aristotle had assumed full responsibility for his separation from his ex-wife, Shaunie.

Furthermore, Shaq praised Shaunie for being a great wife and mother. O’Neal expressed his sorrow for losing all the things he had. He further recalled that coming home every day to his kids and wife was the best feeling for him. Evidently, one doesn’t realize the importance of the things they have until it’s too late.
