The Miami Heat’s season was a success and was not at the same time. They were a team that was not on people’s radar throughout the season but reached the Eastern Conference Finals, where they would lose the series in seven games to the Boston Celtics in an antagonizing fashion. They were down two points with eighteen seconds remaining, but Jimmy Butler, who had carried the Heat till that point, missed his three-pointer. Fortunately, it looks like help may be on the way for him now.

Utah Jazz superstar Donovan Mitchell, who according to reports has been disgruntled with the organization, may now look at Miami Heat as an option. Jazz head coach Quin Snyder has left Utah, and it may affect Donovan’s future there. Donovan was already looking to get traded earlier during the season, according to several reports. Some of the teams in the running were the New York Knicks and the Miami Heat.

Miami Heat and the offseason of possibility

The Miami Heat were the number one seed in the Eastern Conference. After defeating the Atlanta Hawks in five games in the first round, they defeated the Philadelphia 76ers in six games to set up a mouth-watering clash with the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals.

They would lose the ECF in seven games even with Jimmy Butler playing at a superstar level whenever healthy in the series. What they lacked was a consistent offensive threat alongside Jimmy, with Tyler Herro out and Duncan Robinson not in the rotation.

Pairing Donovan with Jimmy would give Miami a consistent offensive threat, which they clearly lacked in the playoffs. Donovan can also serve as the successor for Jimmy, as he is seven years younger than him. If there is one GM in the league who can pull off a move like that, it is Pat Riley. Let us know in the comments below your predictions for Miami Heat’s offseason.
