The Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard left the NBA world in utter disbelief with his outstanding display in the Sunday night game. Lillard scored 41 points in the first halftime of the game against the Houston Rockets and kept the fans hooked for the second half. The Los Angeles Lakers legend LeBron James also joined the fans and anticipated Lillard’s score in the remaining quarters with a cryptic message via social media. 

The Portland star earlier impressed everyone with his outstanding performance at the All-Star three-pointer challenge. He won the challenge of beating the Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum. Moreover, Lillard almost beat the NBA record for most points scored in the first half. Currently, Phoenix Suns’ Devin Booker holds the record with 51 points in a game against the Celtics in 2017.

Meanwhile, the Lakers superstar LeBron James sent out a clear signal to the fans via Twitter. James shared an emoji of a watch, which indicated that Damian Lillard has enough time to score big. Following James, Shaquille O’Neal joined the bandwagon to appreciate the Blazers star with an Instagram story.

Shaquille O’Neal and Donovan join the bandwagon

Following James, Shaquille O’Neal joined the bandwagon to appreciate the Blazers star with an Instagram story. The caption read, “8th player in NBA history with a 70-point game.” Lillard managed to drop 71 points and took his side to a comfortable 131-114 victory over the Rockets.

The Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell joined the party with a hilarious tweet. Moreover, Lillard leveled Mitchell’s season-high score of 71 points. He tweeted, “My mom calls me and says @Dame_Lillard tied your record… you gotta get 72 now.”

The Trail Blazers are currently in the 11th seed of the Western Conference with a 29-31 record. As the league has reached the business end of the season, Lillard’s dominating Sunday night performance would increase the morale in the team’s dressing room.
