On Saturday night, hundreds of spectators gathered to watch the Miami Heat defeat the Orlando Magic and secure a spot in the play-in tournament. Among them was newly nominated Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union. However, the Heat’s victory was not the only reason for celebration that night. Several veteran athletes, including Shaquille O’Neal, gave their flowers to a particular Heat legend who played his last game in his home court of 20 years.

Dwyane Wade spent a major part of his basketball career playing for the Miami Heat. He won three championships during his time with the Heat and was part of the Big Three that stirred a huge controversy when LeBron James made ‘The Decision’. Therefore, it was only fair that D-Wade would be present in the FTX Arena to be a part of this memorable event.

Shaquille O’Neal shares an appreciation post for Heat legend

Udonis Haslem played his last game with the Miami Heat in his homecourt on April 8 as the oldest active NBA player finally decided to put an end to his 20-year run in the league. Haslem scored a game-high 24 points coming off the bench and defeated the Magic by 123-110. The arena erupted in cheers as the 42-year-old veteran basked in the glory while seated on a personalized rocking chair gifted by the Heat.

Shaquille O’Neal commemorated the event by sharing an Instagram post,?’Most points in 1 game by a 42-year-old’. Haslem topped the chart with 24 games, with his previous record being 28 points scored in 2009.

The Miami Heat legend gave a heartfelt farewell speech after he was joined by his family on the court. As per USA Today, he said, “Whether I was starting, whether I was the first guy off the bench or whether I didn?t play at all, you guys always had my back and showed love. For me, that?s priceless. That?s beautiful. And that?s why it made it all so easy, just to sacrifice everything.”

D-Wade celebrates Haslem’s retirement

Following the game, Dwyane Wade shared a couple of pictures from the game and the farewell party. In a series of game photos, Wade and his daughter Kaavia James held Heat jerseys with Haslem’s number. Another image showed Wade embracing his former teammate during the emotional moment.

The 3x NBA champion also went to Haslem’s residence along with Union to celebrate the end of the latter’s NBA journey. A group photo showed the former Heat forward posing in a group photo with his closest friends and family.
