The Eastern Conference table-toppers have had a disappointing couple of weeks in round 1 of the playoffs. The 8th-seeded Miami Heat dismantled the Milwaukee Bucks to win the series 4-1. Apart from the heartbreaking exit, the team’s star player Giannis Antetokounmpo seemingly has an uncertain road ahead in the Bucks’ jersey. The update broke in hours after the Greek Freak’s rant while addressing the media following the disappointing loss.

The seven-time NBA All-Star has been a loyal servant to the Bucks since his rookie season in 2013. Moreover, he led the franchise to its first championship in 50 years in 2021. The 28-year-old also signed a massive 5-year deal with the team in 2021 for $228.2 Million. However, a recent report suggests that the star might exit before the conclusion of the contract.

After the Bucks’ playoffs exit, senior ESPN sports writer Brian Windhorst addressed the team’s future during a show. He shocked the rest of the panel when he revealed the uncertainty about Antetokounmpo’s place on the roster in the coming season. He said, “I think it is unlikely that Giannis extends his contract this summer.” Moreover, the senior writer highlighted various pointers to stand his statement. He pointed out the age disparity in the roster and an obligatory situation to pay the players in their 30s. While the 28-year-old still has two years left in his current contract, it is unlikely he’ll sign an extension, said Windhorst.

Additionally, he said that the change in ownership might also affect the 2021 NBA Champion to continue his stint with the Bucks. Notably, the NBA board recently approved the ownership share for the team’s new owners, Dee and Jimmy Haslam.

Windhorst ended his statement with a powerful message, shocking the Bucks fans. He said, “There are teams in this league, watching very carefully to see what happens with the Bucks this summer.” However, the fans have to wait to witness how things proceed after this season.

Giannis’ ‘failure’ rant

During the press interaction after the Wednesday night game, Giannis Antetokounmpo lashed out at a reporter. When the reporter asked him if this season was a failure, the Greek Freak definitely didn’t enjoy the question. He replied, “It’s a wrong question, there’s no failure in sports. There are good days, bad days. Some days you’re able to be successful, some days you’re not…”
