The dark cloud of chaos has been looming over the NBA world for quite some time. The league is looking to arrive at a mutually agreeable collective-bargaining system for months now with the NBPA – the National Basketball Players Association. Nonetheless, a deal has not been reached yet and the NBA will walk out if a deal is not reached by the end of this week. Throwing things further out of the kilter, a star player has recently called out certain aspects of the league and also expressed his displeasure over the way some games are conducted.

Last night, the Minnesota Timberwolves snapped their four-game winning streak at the hands of the Phoenix Suns. Following the game, the Wolves star Rudy Gobert expressed his indignation towards the league. This comes right after the league commissioner Adam Silver made news in connection with the NBA-NBPA deal.

Shortly before the Wolves locked horns with the Suns, Adam Silver told the media about the prospects of the NBA-NBPA deal. Earlier, it was widely speculated that Silver might leave the NBA to assume the Chief Executive Officer position at Disney. However, he has now revealed that he plans to stay with the NBA. Nonetheless, chaos does not seem to leave the NBA world any time soon, as Rudy Gobert calls out the NBA’s officials.

In the first half of the Wolves-Suns game, officials called fouls eleven times, whereas in the second half, they called 29 fouls. Rudy Gobert believes that this inconsistency in fouls was a deliberate move to help the Phoenix Suns win.

The French basketballer claimed, “Every night. I’ve been in this league for 10 years and I try to always give the benefit of the doubt, but it’s hard for me to think they’re not trying to help [the Suns] win tonight. It’s hard for me to think they didn’t try to help the Warriors win the other night or Sacramento Kings the other night. It’s just so obvious. As a basketball player that’s been in this league for so long, it’s disrespectful.”

Gobert added that he thinks this is all part of a business strategy to make sure that star players and franchises get a spot in the playoffs. “I think you want to see KD in the playoffs, Steph in the playoffs, you want to see LeBron in the playoffs. Timberwolves are not there yet. We got to keep putting our head down and play through that and it’s frustrating for sure, especially for me.” said the Timberwolves star.
