It is only a matter of time before the league presents the new all-time highest scorer. In the 2022-23 season, it is highly likely that James will surpass Abdul-Jabbar who currently sits on the throne. While it will be quite a milestone for King James, his relationship with his potential predecessor is not really on the best of terms. Abdul-Jabbar has criticized LeBron for many of his actions in the past. Be it posting a meme related to COVID – 19 or backing up a fellow NBA player who had previously refused to get vaccinated. Abdul-Jabbar later issued an apology for his harsh comments on James.

Shaquille O’Neal talks about LeBron James and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Halfway through the chat session with Drink Champs, Shaquille O’Neal was asked who was more competitive between Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. Shaq answered that while Jordan was more competitive, Kobe simply wanted to be the best of all. In an earlier interview with PBD, Shaq had said that he developed the killer instinct because of his strict upbringing. When the host of Drink Champs asked if any other NBA player had that quality, Shaq had taken Kobe’s name. Similarly, he was asked if LeBron James had that ‘killer instinct’ because most people believed that he didn’t.

The Los Angeles Lakers legend countered that question with a question of his own. He asked if James surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the highest scorer, would that make him the best player?
