If all goes according to plan, the league may have a new all-time highest scorer this season. In a conversation with Drink Champs, former NBA superstar Shaquille O’Neal gave his thoughts on the LeBron James-Kareem Abdul-Jabbar debate. During one of the sessions, a host asked the Big Diesel whether LeBron has a ‘killer instinct’ or not. In response, Shaq simply gave a rather interesting example to establish his point on the matter. The episode was released on October 8, 2022.

It is only a matter of time before the league presents the new all-time highest scorer. In the 2022-23 season, it is highly likely that James will surpass Abdul-Jabbar who currently sits on the throne. While it will be quite a milestone for King James, his relationship with his potential predecessor is not really on the best of terms. Abdul-Jabbar has criticized LeBron for many of his actions in the past. Be it posting a meme related to COVID – 19 or backing up a fellow NBA player who had previously refused to get vaccinated. Abdul-Jabbar later issued an apology for his harsh comments on James.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar sits on the top with 38,387 points, whereas LeBron James is behind him with 37,062. James only needs 1,326 points more to dethrone Abdul-Jabbar.

Shaquille O’Neal talks about LeBron James and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Halfway through the chat session with Drink Champs, Shaquille O’Neal was asked who was more competitive between Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. Shaq answered that while Jordan was more competitive, Kobe simply wanted to be the best of all. In an earlier interview with PBD, Shaq had said that he developed the killer instinct because of his strict upbringing. When the host of Drink Champs asked if any other NBA player had that quality, Shaq had taken Kobe’s name. Similarly, he was asked if LeBron James had that ‘killer instinct’ because most people believed that he didn’t.

The Los Angeles Lakers legend countered that question with a question of his own. He asked if James surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the highest scorer, would that make him the best player?
“How can you say you got the dopest yacht, when he pulled up in a yacht 200 more feet than you?” asked Shaq. The Big Aristotle’s irrefutable logic stunned the room.
