The NBA has evolved drastically over the years. The way the game is played to which position is dominant now. From a league of centers, it has transitioned into a league of point guards. Instead of going into the paint, teams are now more focused on making the long-range shot. And now it seems as if even bigs are more into stretching the floor and shooting threes instead of dominating the paint in the post.

Nowadays, there are at least one to two knockdown shooters from beyond the arc on every team. But if someone has made a living by making half-court shots, it is none other than Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry.

Stephen Curry inspiring the young guns

Curry is a threat as soon as he crosses the half-court line. But moreover, he has constantly made half-court heaves even with defenders all over him. So it is fair to say that Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton channeled his inner Stephen Curry during the game against the Orlando Magic.

With four seconds left in the second quarter, Haliburton rushed the ball to the half-court line and chugged up a prayer which got answered. He made a half-court three to end the first half of the game, cutting the deficit to just 4 points going into the half-time break.

When one thinks of long half-court bombs, names like Stephen Curry, Damian Lillard or Trae Young perhaps come to mind. But it looks like Haliburton may not be that far behind.

Tyrese Haliburton was drafted by the Sacramento Kings in the 2020 NBA draft. He made the All-Rookie 1st Team in 2021 and is averaging the highest point average of his career so far this season.

Haliburton is averaging 20.6 PPG, 4.6 RPG, and 10.5 APG this season. He has been quite the fit for the Pacers organization alongside Myles Turner as another option on offense. After defeating the Orlando Magic, the Indiana Pacers now have a 9-6 record, ranking them 5th in the Eastern Conference.
