NBA fans went onto Twitter to voice their confusion over Mayweather’s ridiculous offer. One fan tweeted, “ How on earth can he afford that? He owes millions in taxes.” While another fan commented, “Who he make a 2B offer when his net worth is 560M?”

Fans just couldn’t seem to wrap their head around the fact that Floyd Mayweather was able to make such an offer solely by himself.

Though NBA teams aren’t as expensive as the teams in the NFL, they sure come with a hefty price nonetheless. And as much as fans would want Mayweather to acquire the Lakers or a team of their choosing, that might not be the case.

Mayweather was open to an NBA league expansion

Only a handful of teams fall under the $2 billion mark in value. But would it be advisable for Mayweather to be the sole owner of a team in the league? Moreover, does he have that amount of funds to make such an offer?

According to reports, Mayweather made the $2 billion offer with business partner Brent Johnson for majority ownership. Earlier, Mayweather did say that he was interested in owning a team in Las Vegas or Seattle if the NBA was open to an expansion.
