The fashion and modeling industry offers all the glitter, fame, and money in the world. However, numerous former models and people close to the industry have revealed the dark side of what goes on behind the scenes. Gabrielle Union, wife of NBA legend Dwyane Wade and an eminent name in the fashion industry, recently offered a whole new insight into her line of work.

Having spent a long time in her field, Union revealed how she used her connections to find her way in an interview for a top fashion magazine.

Over the years, the Bad Boys II fame actor has been an honest voice who doesn’t shy away from exposing some dark secrets about the fashion industry. Union’s latest work was in The Perfect Find, the Netflix rom-com, where she worked as an executive producer alongside playing a major role. Interestingly, the project delves into the problems faced by older women in finding work in the industry.

While talking about this project, Union revealed that she had some connections. As a result, she has seen the plight of older women up close. 

“Luckily, I am friends with people in the fashion world, so I had a wealth of access to be able to see how treacherous the world of fashion is for Black women, certainly as we begin to age or when we might want to start a family or have any kind of life outside the industry,” revealed Union during an interview with WhoWhatWear.

She also added, “I could see what it looks like and the real stakes and have that inform the project.” Not only did she want to portray the plight of Black women, but Union also wanted her staff and cast to feel a sense of camaraderie. However, it ultimately depends on the actor’s work ethics and beliefs as revealed by the millionaire.

Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union have been one of the most famous couples in NBA circles. The stylish couple have a 9-year age gap which has caught the media’s eye in the past.

Interestingly, in The Perfect Find, Union’s character is dating a younger man which was scrutinized by the male’s mother. Union has battled something like this in life.

“I lived it,” said the actor when drawing a similarity between the character and her life, according to Atlanta Black Star. Apparently, the Miami Heat legend’s mother had questioned his then-girlfriend about her motives. Despite all odds, Wade and Union have been happily married since 2014.
