Shaquille O’Neal is a man of many talents. Apart from being one of the all-time basketball greats, the Big Man has tried his hand at several other disciplines. As a rapper, Shaq released four studio albums from 1993-1998. His first studio album Shaq Diesel peaked at #25 on Billboard 200 and remains the highlight of his rap career, as the ones that followed couldn’t beat that record. Apart from that he has been featured in several TV shows, not to mention his string of businesses.

As for his movie career, he has delivered some of the most memorable flops! The Los Angeles Lakers legend recently talked about redoing one of his biggest flops. He presented a $100 million opportunity to a Hollywood star about the prospect. The proposition left the actor looking to change the topic!

Shaquille O’Neal presents the idea of redoing Kazaam

Jeremy Piven was a guest on a recent episode of The Big Podcast. One of the hosts, Nischelle Turner, asked the panel an interesting question, “Would you rather have Kobe’s mentality or LeBron’s game?” Turner said that she heard Jalen Rose asking this question and she wanted the panel’s take on it.

Shaq immediately stood up for his late ex-teammate Kobe Bryant, saying, “That’s not a real question.” Shaq explained that Kobe was not just about mentality but that he also had a top-level game. Nevertheless, Shaq chose Kobe’s mentality over LeBron James‘ game as Kobe helped him get three NBA championships.

Piven chimed in on the issue siding with Shaq. He said Kobe immediately won an Oscar when he started a new chapter of his life after the NBA. Adding to the Oscar conversation, Turner said that Shaq won an Oscar last year too. Although she was referring to the documentary Shaq produced with Stephen Curry, The Queen of Basketball, Piven used that opportunity to bring back one of Shaq’s biggest flops. He asked sarcastically if they could do a reboot of Kazaam.

While the panel laughed over the question, Diesel wasted no time in presenting the idea of redoing Kazaam with Piven. He asked, “If a studio offers you $100 million and they offer me $115 million to redo Kazaam, are we doing it?” Although Piven replied immediately with, “A thousand percent,” he quickly shifted the conversation to another topic.

Kazaam was Shaq’s second film and it was released in 1996. The movie was made on a budget of $20 million and it could only gross $18.9 million at the box office.
