Ever since the Brooklyn Nets signed James Harden to join Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving to form one of the league’s most dominating ‘Big Three’, the franchise has either received criticism or blind support. There is no in-between.

While they have faced unrelenting Criticism for losing to mediocre teams, they have also developed a dedicated fanbase for winning against some of the best.
And now that they have Blake Griffin on board, the most recent headlines have been about an NBA Analyst and Shannon Sharpe’s jabs at each other.

Kevin Durant became the bigger person
Durant has often attracted the ire of fans, players, and NBA analysts, particularly Shannon Sharpe. The two of them have locked horns several times because KD isn’t one to keep shut and always takes a stand for himself.
More often than not, the argument turns into something ugly. However, this time, the Nets’ superstar took the high road and tried to reply to Sharpe’s mocking in a light-hearted manner.

Sharpe recently posted a picture of the Nets’ new star-studded team on his Instagram that included their recent addition, Griffin. Needless to say, he added some complimentary harsh comments about Durant.

He wrote below the post, “Well damn. I thought this was KD’s moment to lead a team to a championship. I ain’t hear nobody mention that KD want all the good players.”

Durant, who caught wind of this, had a very unexpected response. He jokingly said, “Whatever I did, I apologize Shannon.”
This is unlike KD, who’s known to be super vocal about such comments. This has emerged after an old tweet of KD came up in which he threw shade at super teams and now he himself is in one. Sharpe couldn’t help and take this opportunity to throw that on his face.

What does Blake Griffin bring to the table for the Brooklyn Nets?
This war of words between Sharpe and Kevin Durant might become worse with time, especially if the Nets end up beating the LeBron James-led Lakers, who Sharpe supports.
But the Nets didn’t seem like they needed any more help with their success this year. Standing second in the East with a 24-13 record, what does Griffin add to their roster?

In his seven playoff appearances, the former Detroit Pistons‘ center has never made it past the semi-finals. This is his chance to play for a championship-contending team. Several teams have shown that they needed help on the frontcourt, and the Nets are one of them.

Griffin can provide them with the depth that they need. He may not be the person to rely on scoring, but it is his contribution off the bench that is of value. Do you think the Nets have a better shot at the title now? Or do they still need some more assistance?
