“I Broke Up With My Wife..”: Addressing Kevin Durant’s Equation With Brooklyn, Nets Starter Makes Bizarre Comparison

On NBA Media Day, the newly acquired forward of the Brooklyn Nets Markieff Morris made a strange comparison, while addressing the Kevin Durant trade rumors and the off-season drama surrounding the All-Star and the franchise.
The 33-year-old veteran forward was signed by the Brooklyn nets a few weeks ago. Markieff won a championship in the 2019-2020 season with the Los Angeles Lakers alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis. The forward was a much-needed addition to Brooklyn’s roster. The veteran’s physicality and mental toughness can likely improve the Nets’ rebounding and defending. According to an NBA insider, the signing of the forward was “sufficiently significant”, so much so that the owner Joe Tsai was personally involved.

The newly acquired forward from the Miami Heat, Markieff Morris addressed the Kevin Durant situation with the Brooklyn Nets, comparing the situation to his on/off relationship with his wife. “Like breaking up with a girlfriend and you get back with her. Same s**t. Same differences until you figure it out. Can it work? Yeah. I broke up with my wife a couple times, we still married,” he said.

The forward is expected to play the role of a stretch five in the small ball lineup. If the veteran can space and shoot while proving to be an asset on defense, his role can undoubtedly be instrumental in the Nets winning games next season.

Kevin Durant’s trade rumors primarily caused the Brooklyn Nets’ off-season drama. Kevin Durant initially requested a trade in June. One month later, he rescinded his request.
After deliberations with the management, the All-Star forward is all set to remain in Brooklyn for the upcoming season. The season opener at the Barclays Center will likely feature the All-Star trio of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Ben Simmons for the first time. The Nets struggled to make a run last season due to injuries, and they were swept in the first round of the playoffs by the Boston Celtics. Notably, they were the only team to get swept in the entire playoffs last season.
