In fact, His Airness admitted in this iconic interview for Playboy magazine in 1992 that he once assumed that he will remain a bachelor all his life. As a matter of fact, Michael Jordan admittedly couldn’t get a date in his younger years as an aspiring hooper.

Michael Jordan couldn’t get a date in his younger years

Michael Jordan didn’t take much time to establish himself as a star athlete. Therefore, it almost seems unbelievable that he would have any problems getting dates from women. However, that is exactly what Jordan claimed to be the case.

Were you popular with girls in high school?”, the interviewer had asked him during the course of the interview. “I always thought I would be a bachelor“, replied the six-time NBA champion.

I couldn?t get a date“, he added.

Quite naturally, the interviewer found the information hard to believe. Therefore, Jordan provided an explanation. In fact, the 14-time All-Star ascribed his lack of popularity among girls to his quirky behavior in high school.

In other words, Jordan liked to play the fool in his early days. As a result, women found it hard to take him seriously. However, the NBA legend did well with his studies despite his social struggles.

Jordan’s marriage and family life

Michael Jordan met his first wife Juanita Vanoy through a mutual friend in 1985. After dating for two years, Michael proposed to Juanita on New Year’s Eve.

The couple got married in 1989 and had three children together. Jeffrey, Marcus, and Jasmine. Michael and Juanita Jordan legally ended their marriage in 2006 after a brief separation in 2002.
