LeBron James has been chosen as the celebrity starter for the latest edition of Le Mans 24. While showing up at the prestigious events, LeBron addressed a French crowd in their own tongue. King James’ French speech, however, has got surprising responses from NBA Twitter.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans has bestowed LeBron James with an honor which was previously given to stars like Rafael Nadal and Brad Pitt. This time round, when the Le Mans 24 is celebrating its landmark centenary edition, King James is the celebrity starter. While the Le Mans 24 honored James, he remarked that he too is excited and happy to be part of such a remarkable event. During the event, LeBron did flag off the race. He asked the racers to get going in French.

“Pilotes démarrez vos moteurs,” LeBron James said as he waved the race. It means ‘pilots start your engines.’ The 24 Hours of Le Mans’ official Twitter handle has tweeted a snippet of the Lakers star starting the event with his French call for action. As French is a foreign tongue for the NBA veteran, it won’t come as a surprise that his words did not flow smoothly like a Frenchman.
