Last season, the MVP race was all about Giannis Antetokounmpo and LeBron James. In the end, Giannis ended up winning the second MVP of his career. On the other hand, LBJ carried the Lakers to their 17th title in the NBA.

As a result, a debate was going on about who is the best player in the league? Is it LeBron James or Giannis Antetokounmpo? Well, there is no decisive answer for this debate as of now. Moreover, tonight the two stars were on the same side in the 2021 NBA All-Star game.

Team LeBron won the game thanks to a literally perfect night from the Greek Freak. He led all scorers with 35 points while shooting a perfect 16-of-16 from the field. Due to his efforts, Giannis bagged in the Kobe Bryant NBA All-Star MVP trophy as well.

Prior to tonight’s game, Giannis sat down for an interview with “USA Today Sports.” In the interview, he discussed his thoughts on whether James is the best player in the league or not? Giannis stated:

For sure, I think he is one of the best players in the league. There’s no doubt, like he’s a champion. As long as you are the champion, you are the best player in the league. I don’t care who’s the MVP, I don’t care who’s the leading scorer of the NBA. You know, if you are the champion and the best team, I think you are the best player in the world.”

Like Giannis explained, as of now the purple and gold are the defending champions of the league. On their team, the best player is without a doubt LeBron James. So it’s quite evident why most fans regard LBJ as the best player in the league despite being 36 years old.

Additionally, he is still in the MVP race at this age and making a strong case for himself. If Bron can lead the Lakers to another championship, it will not only cement him as the current best player, but also one of the best players of all-time.
